PhD research at the department is supported by various training activities. Additional resources are offered by the Graduate Academy of Leibniz Universität Hannover.

Doctoral and peer review colloquia organised periodically by the a_ku department are mandatory to doctoral candidates. Participants present their individual research progress and take part in thematic workshops. Pivotal skills develop in the training of research methodologies (e.g. research design, case studies, experimental research, research on simulation or models) and broadening the candidates’ knowledge on research discourse, field and terminology. The training of techniques in moderation and presentation are pivotal qualifications as well as the gain in knowledge via themed seminars on e.g. phenomenology or estetic theory.
