Publications
Several book publications on the topic of Reflexive Design represent overarching themes and contents that were also addressed in previous a_ku symposia on design and research in architecture and landscape architecture. The area of design research includes approaches to ways and media of architectural design and conception. Publications on architecture and art describe overlaps and entanglements of the named disciplines.
New release: Products of Reflexive Design
Both research-related design and design-related research in architecture, urban design, and landscape architecture promote, structure and generate products of specific figuration and quality. The contributions in this book use examples in a variety of formats to explore diverse, interconnected modes of knowing and designing products, as well as their creation through design and research activities, in an insightful way, placing them in relation to reflexive design and providing stimuli for future-oriented action.
New release: Landscape-ness as Architectural Idea
The concept of landscape-ness is gaining increasing importance in architecture not least due to the rising threat of climate change. Based on international examples, Margitta Buchert analyses the potential of architecture for dealing with contemporary challenges, including socio-cultural transformations and questions of lifeworld orientations within the tensions of global networking and local exposure — between natural space and urban space.
