Deepening of cooperation with universities in Cairo

The Chair of Architectural Theory at Leibniz University Hannover is carrying out an international research project on architectural modernism in a transnational context together with American University in Cairo and Cairo University. The project focuses on the architecture journal Al-Emara (1939–1959), which was published in Arabic, and on the work of its editor, Sayed Karim, as previously underexplored sources in architectural history. The project opens up new perspectives on the transnational history of architectural modernism while also providing a foundation for future teaching and research formats in architecture and urban studies.
